Vito Sheeley Announces Candidacy for State House

St. Petersburg, FL – On Monday, Vito Sheeley announced that he will run to represent District 70 in the Florida State House. Sheeley, a prominent activist and organizer, cited his career working with neighborhood leaders on a number of issues and a lack of effective policies in Tallahassee as his reason for running.

“I want more for the community I’ve lived in my whole life,” Sheeley said. “I’ve had the honor to work with our elected representatives on issues like affordable housing, restoration of voting rights, and job creation for District 70 families. That experience has shown me that we’re strongest when we face these issues together.”

Sheeley’s resume includes serving in prominent outreach roles with both Congresswoman Kathy Castor and Congressman Charlie Crist. His job was to engaged voters on the issues facing their communities as well as helping constituents solve problems at the local level. He also brought community leaders and citizens together to collaborate and ensure issues affecting the community were being addressed.

“It really boils down to asking ‘what’s right for our neighborhoods’ then finding a way to make it happen,” Sheeley added.
